What I love about this the most is that there’s no indication as to whether the teddy bear is floating away or if its floating down. It’s caught between a moment of translation and is dependent on the viewer’s brain to make a “snap judgement.” This was never my original intention, but I find it refreshing how new discoveries can be made along the way.
When I created this, I was using Blender to model and render everything out. My focus was the balloons. It may seem obvious, but my inspiration was from the movie Up. What captivated me was floating away on so many balloons should really be a frighting and a scary out of control experience, but it wasn’t. It was colorful, bright, and very inviting. Maybe I’m just day dreaming here, but I think balloons can awaken our childish nature of hope and wonder.
